Arts, Craft and Design
Art, Craft & Design form the heart of creative expression and critical thinking. Engaging in these subjects allows students to explore their imagination, develop problem-solving skills and communicate ideas visually. Through hands-on projects, students gain a deep understanding of various materials and techniques, from traditional methods to contemporary practices. Students will learn a variety of practical skills including still life drawing, graphic design, print, embroidery, and constructed textiles. They will also focus on artists, craftspeople and designers and will develop and make their own designs.
This holistic approach not only nurtures artistic talent but also enhances cognitive abilities, emotional intelligence and cultural awareness. Furthermore, students will enjoy trips to local galleries and even abroad.
At Box Hill School, we offer comprehensive programmes in Art, Craft & Design at various levels, including GCSE, A Levels and the International Baccalaureate (IB). We also offer Visual Arts in our 1 year accelerated GCSE course. Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire students, preparing them for further education and careers in the creative industries.
